More reflections on the IEP

Psychic Education is a very important part of Integral Education. Yet what exactly is the education of the Psychic and what does the imparting of psychic education consist of? More...

Part 4: From the facilitators' viewpoint: continued

Part 3. From the Facilitator's viewpoint

Part 2: A Parent's View

As the IEP year 2004-2005 drew to a close, the children reflect on their experiences with the Integral Education Program.

Kiruthika writes on Towards progress in Integral Education.

Jayanthy writes on Integral Education Retreat 2005.

Sudha writes her reflections on psychic education as a Facilitator.

Jayanthy writes on psychic education as a Facilitator. Vatsala follows up with her reflections.

Venkat writes further on mental education: Let Them Fly. Pradeeptha follows up with her reflections.

After vital came mental education. The children were taught two techniques of concentration and attention and several exercises illustrating the importance of lateral thinking. In his article Give them roots and wings, Venkat writes about the trials, tribulations and joys of being a facilitator for mental education with the integral education program. Pranav follows up with his reflections on mental education.

As we had imparted to the children a comprehensive, albeit brief, introduction to physical education, we moved to the education of the vital, encompassing the wide range of senses, beauty, art and emotions. As always, the children responded beautifully to the activities held. Kiruthika reports from the facilitator viewpoint and Navin writes about his experience.

As the days go by, the integral education program becomes more and more of an adventure to the facilitators. More news on Facilitating an IEP class by Nisha

Niharika writes about her view on physical education.

As we proceed with the Integral education program, the time has come for us to think back and reflect on what has been done and what to do. Jayanthy reflects on what it is to be an IEP facilitator.

The IEP facilitators also asked the children to give feedback on the lessons. Alagu's reflections can be found here.

Sri Aurobindo says: "The children should be helped to grow up into straightforward, frank, upright and honourable human beings ready to develop into divine nature."

Education must prepare us for life in the widest sense. It must help blossom the very best in an individual, the unique and exquisite something, which every individual is born to offer to the world.

Integral Education based on the Indian yogic science aims at the total and complete development of the individual: a strong, supple, well formed and healthy body; a sensitive unselfish and mature emotional nature, a positively energetic vital, an enlightened mind, a wide-ranging and vibrant intelligence, a strong will, a balanced and pleasant personality; and the subtler spiritual qualities that can channelise, harmonise and direct all the different parts of an individual into a life that is beneficial to the individual and to his fellow-men.

(Adapted from Sri Aurobindo's foundation for integral education and research)

"The child is a soul meant to grow", says Sri Aurobindo. The Integral Education Program is a small step taken by our center to introduce these souls to Education as envisioned by The Mother. As we launch the Integral Education program on the auspicious occasion of Sri Aurobindo's 132nd birthday, we pray to Him and The Mother to guide us in this adventure.

27th June 2004 is the third anniversary of the Sunshine Youth Group. On this special occassion, we are organizing a one day camp for children between the age of 7 and 12 years.
