Photo Workshop

January 28, 2007

When I heard that there was going to be a photography workshop at the Botanical Gardens, I was very excited as I already had developed an interest for photography, and had also signed up for a similar activity at school.

It was a cloudy Sunday afternoon but that never spoiled my mood as I waited for the workshop to begin. Our instructor, Gopika Aunty, was very clear with her instructions. She made us look closely at things that had hidden beauty, which we would not have noticed before. So with our cameras ready for action, we walked around the beautiful gardens to capture moments that were full of beautiful textures and bright colors.

Gopika Aunty taught us how to zoom into objects so that we would be able to enjoy the finer details. This workshop has made me realize our impact on the world and how we have to save it for future generations.   This has opened my eyes to nature’s finer beauty and the natural wonders of the world.

Art and Nature

There is no incompatibility between the inspiration from within and the dependence on Nature. The essence of the inspiration always comes from within but the forms of expression are based on Nature though developed and modified by the selective or interpretative sight of the artist.
