Aditya writes The Mother's view on religion 3rd INTEGRAL EDUCATION RETREAT 2006 - A Review What symbol can one chose for the Sri Aurobindo organisations ? Read about it in Kiruthika's article The Sri Aurobindo Banyan tree An important day in many parts of the world is remembrance day, a day for remembering the heros who died for us during times of war. Anirudh expresses his feelings on remembrance day with this beautiful poem. For Nov 2004, Ramya writes about Total Surrender - The Highest Attitude Possible One question that we as devotees often ask is, can I continue with my religious followings if I become a devotee of The Mother? Aditya answers with The Mother's view on religion The last article in Sunshine Youth Group's series on Man's relationship with God, Selvi writes about Friendship with God We have looked at fear and devotion as steps to a relationship with the Divine. Vrunda now tells us about Love. The next natural relationship between man and God is devotion. More in Devotion: the path between fear and love. In March 2004, The Members of the Sunshine Youth Group presented a discussion called Divinity's comrade. During the program, our members looked within to map out the evolution of Man's relationship with the Divine and the emotions that we feel towards Him.We simplified the emotions felt towards the Divine into Fear, Devotion, Love and Friendship. This month, we present an introduction of the program as well as Aarthi's presentation on Fear - First Step in the Evolution of Man’s Consciousness The final article on our series on thoughts and aphorisms is based on a stetch by Pranav and Pradeepta: : Ravana’s mind thought it was hungering after universal sovereignty and victory over Rama; but the aim his soul kept its vision fixed upon all the time was to get back to its heaven as soon as possible and be again God’s menial. Therefore, as the shortest way, it hurled itself against God in a furious clasp of enimity. (More...) Our discussion on Thoughts and aphorisms now proceeds to Aphorism 386: Medical Science has been more a curse to mankind than a blessing. It has broken the force of epidemics and unveiled a marvelous surgery; but also, it has weakened the natural health of man and multiplied individual diseases; it has implanted fear and dependence in the mind and body; it has taught our health to repose not on natural soundness but a rickety and distasteful crutch compact from mineral and vegetable kingdoms. More: The fifth aphorism in the
series discussed: There are many kinds of forbearance. I saw a
coward hold out his cheek to the smiter; I saw a physical weakling struck
by a strong self-approving bully look quietly and intently at the aggressor;
I saw God incarnate smile lovingly on those who stoned him. The first
was ridiculous, the second terrible, the third divine and holy.More... Sri Aurobindo's writings sometimes presents us with a paradox. Something he says at a certain place may be completely in contradiction with what he says somewhere else. Swati and Kiran give their opinions on Aphorisms 313 and 314, which are a classic example of the paradoxical nature of Sri Aurobindo's writings. This month Devi writes a summary of her presentation of Aphorism 48. "I knew my mind to be conquered when it admired the beauty of the hideous, yet felt perfectly why other men shrank back or hated".
