11 The Mother

The following proposal aims at organizing a seminar on the theme of The Mother and the Yoga of Evolution on the occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of The Mother from the 17th to the 22nd of February 2004.

As an experiment, it is proposed to organize this seminar in a novel manner so that the spirit of the New Evolution heralded and experimented with by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother may be evoked not through the usual readings of papers but through a whole range of creative expressions flowing out of the experience of Auroville like sounds, songs, music, dances, paintings, sculptures, photographs, flower arrangements, performances, audio and power-point presentations, video films, reading of texts and poems, table ronde, silent meditations, etc.

Thus, it is felt that the various aspects pertaining to the Yoga of Evolution as communicated by The Mother will be perceived by all participants in a more integral and experiential manner.

11.30 am to 1.00 pm: The Mother and the Yoga of Evolution. An outline of the main stages of accomplishment of The Mother’s life-long quest - from her childhood experience that all is atoms to her discovery at the age of 85 of the “mind of the cells” - of the new evolution heralded by Sri Aurobindo. 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm: The Agenda of the Supramental Action upon Earth. Flashes of Mother’s experiences in the cellular consciousness of the human body as recorded by Satprem from 1951 to 1973. These experiences parallel some of the most recent theories of modern physics and are the key to the passage to the supramental species. Power-point presentation. Reading by youths. (Serge)

5.00 pm to 6.30 pm: Table ronde: The Supramental Manifestation and Humanity. What are the signs in our contemporary world of the action of the Supramental consciousness since its manifestation on the 29th February 1956? Facilitated by Kireet Joshi. (members of Governing/Executive Boards of ICPR, CSC, IIAS as well as members of ICPR Fellows, Ashram, Auroville and AVI.)

1 Auroville as a counteraction against the consequences of the error of armament

Tour of Auroville (optional)

The Bharat Nivas compound and the Auditorium will be decorated by youths from the Pyramids so that the whole place vibrates with Beauty.

All the programmes will be filmed in view of a video presentation of the seminar which will be sent later to all participants from the outside.

The texts of all the presentations including theatre plays, slide-show, power-point presentations, etc, will be distributed on the 17th February to all participants along with the programme of the seminar.

All other proceedings will be recorded in view of a publication that will be sent to all participants after the seminar.

A Souvenir and an audio CD of Sri Aurobindo and His Dreams, a video CD of the Genius of India and Auroville - A Dream of the Divine, will be given to all participants from the outside as well as a selection of books related to the theme of evolution.

Participants will be given a special pass to have free access to the Matrimandir during their free time.
